How you can encourage your friends to give more improtance to knowledge than marks?

English

I would always advise my friend that it is necessary to study all subjects in depth and perform well in the examinations to enable him to carry out higher studies in order to have a stable working career. But, at the same time, I'd advise him that merely obtaining good marks is not the barometer of gaining knowledge. Attaining knowledge on diverse things is most important for a human person.
My advice to my friend would be acquiring knowledge by reading books on diverse subjects, learning about various matters by watching television channels like National Geographic, History Channel, Travel & Living and so on. But, first of all, he should know most things about his own country. With the advent of the internet and satellite television, gathering knowledge has become easy; he should make use of these facilities.
Even for passing examinations, he must read and understand the various subjects and topics rather than learn by rote, simply memorising without understanding is not good.

Which pair of sentences would be most appropriate to combine using a conjunction? Question 17 options: Grandpa says he was an av
lidiya [134]

The answer is:

My mother is very tall but my father is even taller.

Conjunctions join clauses, words and phrases and they are usually used to avoid a sequence of short sentences. For example, and, but, and or.

In this case, the most suitable sentences to combine with a conjunction like "but" are the ones whose subjects are related (mother and father) and whose predicates have a similar structure: both describe height and one has a comparative form of the adjective tall, so they can be easily joined.

I WILL GIVR BRAINLIEST TO THE FIRST ANSWER Excerpt from Walden
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

Given the comparison made by Thoreau, we can say his opinion is the following:

D) Thoreau believes that most men live earthly, purely physical lives without time for higher, spiritual thoughts.

Explanation:

"It appeared to me that for a like reason men remain in their present low and primitive condition; but if they should feel the influence of the spring of springs arousing them, they would of necessity rise to a higher and more ethereal life."

Thoreau uses the numbness of the snake as a metaphor for the figurative numbness of men. The primitive state that he mentions above is a low state of consciousness, solely focused on material possessions and earthly pursuits that, to his mind, have no real purpose. Thoreau believes it is possible for men to reach higher intellectual and spiritual grounds. However, most of them seem to prefer the numbness.

Besides religious phrases, what did Charles Grandison Finney emphasize in his sermons
Lemur [1.5K]
Besides religious phrases, what Charles Grandison Finney emphasized in his sermons is the fact that people had to make choices in their lives similar to making political decisions.
Although sometimes it can be difficult to make a decision or a right choice, still people have to do it all the time. Life is not easy, and sometimes these decisions can change everything for the person making them. Finney wanted to say that no matter how hard it is, people have to do what's right at all times.
