So first of all we need to know that area is length times width
Area = L x W
since we know the area is 42 and the length is 12 lets plug those in
42 = 12 x W
now we dont know what W is yet but we can figure it out by dividing 42 by 12
42/12 = 3.5
So W = 3.5!
but its asking for the perimeter and we know that perimeter is all of the sides of the rectangle added up. Heres a picture

       ___3.5___
      |                 |
      |                 |
 12 |                 |  12
      |                 |
      ************
             3.5

see now we just add those all up together:)

12 + 12 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 31!!
so our perimeter is 31 inches:)
have a good one

Han says that you can wrap a 5-foot rope around a wheel with a 2-foot diameter because is less than pi. Do you agree with Han? C
madam [21]

Given :

Han says that we can wrap a 5 foot rope around a wheel with a 2 foot rope.

To Find :

It this true or false.

Solution :

Radius of wheel, r = 1 foot.

Circumference of wheel is given by :

C = 2\pi r\\\\C = 2\times 3.14\times 1\\\\C = 6.28 \ foot

Since, circumference is greater than 5 foot, therefore, we cannot wrap a  5-foot rope around a wheel with a 2-foot diameter.

Hence, this is the required solution.

A car rental company charges $10 a day and 17 cents per mile to rent their cars. If the total charge for a 2-day rental were $61
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

245 miles driven.

Step-by-step explanation:

A car rental company charges $10 a day and 17 cents per mile to rent their cars. 17 cents = 0.17 dollars

Let x be the number of miles and y be the number of days

total change =0.17x  + 10y

Given total change is 61.65 and number of days = 2

plug in the values and find out the number of miles

61.65 = 0.17 x + 2(10)

61.65 = 0.17 x + 20

subtract 20 on both sides

41.65 = 0.17x

Divide by 0.17 on both sides

x = 245

245 miles driven.
