1 sandwich cut into 8 pieces then eats 1 pieces,
then had 7/8 lefts means that 7 pieces left, if he put each mean put 1 pieces in a plate, than he need 7 plates.

When he ate 1 piece, it means that he ate 1/8 or 1 out of 8 pieces.
he put 1/8 part of the sandwich on each plate.

Sqrt of 4a-4 + sqrt of a-1
Monica [59]
\large\begin{array}{l} \textsf{Simplify the expression (I'm goint to call it E)}\\\\ \mathsf{E=\sqrt{4a-4}+\sqrt{a-1}} \end{array}

\large\begin{array}{l} \textsf{So E is a sum of two square roots. Notice that you can factor}\\\textsf{the 4 out on the first one:}\\\\ \mathsf{E=\sqrt{4\cdot a-4\cdot 1}+\sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \mathsf{E=\sqrt{4\cdot (a-1)}+\sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \mathsf{E=\sqrt{2^2\cdot (a-1)}+\sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \mathsf{E=\sqrt{2^2}\cdot \sqrt{a-1}+\sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \mathsf{E=2\cdot \sqrt{a-1}+\sqrt{a-1}} \end{array}

\large\begin{array}{l} \mathsf{E=2\cdot \sqrt{a-1}+1\cdot \sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \mathsf{E=(2+1)\cdot \sqrt{a-1}}\\\\ \boxed{\begin{array}{l}\mathsf{E=3\cdot \sqrt{a-1}} \end{array}} \end{array}

Dante is studying the growth of a particular type of plant. He is testing the effects of four growth factors: lighting, age, tem
Leya [2.2K]

The level from each growth factors is an illustration of combination

There are 90 ways of combining one level from each growth factors

<h3>How to determine the number of combination</h3>

From the complete question (see attachment), we have the number of levels in each growth factor is:

  • Lighting = 3
  • Age = 5
  • Temperature = 2
  • Humidity = 3

So, the number of combination (n) is:

n = 3 * 5 * 2 * 3

n = 90

Hence, there are 90 ways of combining one level from each growth factors
