1. Confederates wants the slavery to continue and rejected the abolishment of Slavery movement, this led to secession and eventually American civil war. While American colonists, rejected the imposition of British taxes, other subsequent trade limitations that were imposed on them, and they also refused to accommodate the British soldiers and as other unfair duies.

2. Confederates had a legal right to secede, as they had agreed and ratified a union constitution that allow any part that wish to secede to do so without the federal government stopping them, while the American colonists had no such legal agreement.
