Answer:

Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), which is also called baking soda is added during baking of a cake. It reacts with water that is added in the dough and produces carbon dioxide gas, which expands on heating and makes the cake fluffy.

Thus, this is a chemical change that causes cake to rise.
