Denote the numbers x, y. so we have equations y-x=3; x^2=4y, therefore x^2-4x-12=0. so x=6, y=9 or x=-2; y=1

No because if you do the math, 3 to the power of 2 you get 9 and if you do 3 to the power of 3 you get 27. However when you do 3 to the power of 5 you get 243. Add 27 and 9 and you get 36 which is not 243.
