How do melting ice caps and glaciers affect sea level

If the ice is lying on land, melting ice will slowly raise sea levels.

Explanation:

Ice in the Arctic ocean is floating on the ocean and so when it melts it does not raise sea levels anymore - its like ice cubes in a drink - its already displaced as much water as its going to.

However, the big ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland are mostly lying on land and so as they melt they add more water to the oceans and the average sea level rises.

If all the ice in Greenland were to melt the sea level would rise by about 7 meters which would flood out millions of people living in coastal cities. If all the ice in Antarctica were to melt, this would add 72 meters to average sea levels.

Right now, thermal expansion of the oceans, plus melting ice from continental alpine glaciers, is contributing the most to sea level rise (as the atmosphere warms from global warming, some heat is transferred to the oceans). Current estimates are that sea levels may rise as much as 1 meter (3-4 feet) by the year 2100.

This is correct. The sea level will rise because when ice melts it turns into water causing a rise in sea levels

The RNA meets with the organelle ribosome that will read it to build a polypeptide chain of amino acids, following the process o
konstantin123 [22]

The rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) is is a series of flattened sacs connected to ribosomes. The Golgi Apparatus is an organelle composed of flattened stacked pouches known as cisternae.

In this case, the missing words indicate:

 • Specifically, this organelle is attached on the ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM (RER) which will help to modify and package the polypeptide product.
 • It puts it into a transport vesicle to be sent over to the GOLGI APPARATUS to add molecular tags and sort it, like a post office.

 • The RER is required for the production and secretion of different hormones and proteins.

 • The Golgi apparatus plays fundamental roles associated with the transport, modification, and packaging of proteins and lipids into vesicles, which are subsequently delivered to specific cellular destinations.

 • Both the RER and Golgi apparatus form part of the endomembrane system.

Answer:

decreases a plant’s weight

Explanation:

Aerobic respiration is a process of respiration in which oxygen is required and the byproducts of aerobic respiration are carbon dioxide, water and energy.

Plants undergo aerobic respiration and it is a catabolic process in which complex compounds in plants turns into simpler compounds. This process reduces the dry weight of the plants.

Glycolysis is the first step in both aerobic and anaerobic respiration so it is not a typical aerobic respiration.

Hence, the correct answer is "decreases a plant’s weight".

Explain why the scientific method may not follow the exact same step each time through the process.
kherson [118]

Answer:

The scientific method may not follow the exact same steps each time because experiments are different. Some may have many more steps to follow to reach the conclusion, while others may take less time and have less steps. For example, some experiments may require a chart or graph of the results to be made, while others do not need that to display the results
