12. Collect terms.

... = x(1/2 - 2 1/4) + (-7 +2) = (-1 3/4)x -5 . . . . matches a)

13. Undo what is done to x. Perform the operations on both sides of the equation.

... 3x -4 = -22 . . . . multiply by -2 to undo multiplication by -1/2

... 3x = -18 . . . . . . . add 4 to undo subtraction of 4

... x = -6 . . . . . . . . . divide by 3 to undo the multiplication by 3

The value of x is -6.

This will be less confusing if you look at the attached image.

12) a is correct.
first solve the expression and then find one that is the same in the options. To do this combine like terms.

13) x=6
first solve the parenthesis by multiplying the fraction in front by both numbers inside. Then subtract the 2 from both sides divide to separate the x and then you get x=6

Natali5045456 [20]
Good morning from Canada!

What we know:
-quire=25 sheets
-ream=100 sheets

So, we are looking for how many quires can fit into a ream. All we have to do is divide the number of sheets in a ream (100) by the number of sheets in a quire (25) because dividing allows us to see how many times a specific number can go into another number, which is what we are looking for. (How many quires are in a ream).

100/25=4

Therefore 4 quires can fit into a ream.

Hope this helps!
