Does velocity or mass impact momentum more and why

Mathematics

As the mass of an object increases the object will be gaining more velocity and the impact of the object would be that the momentum will be very high... also its pretty much common sense bc since the mass of the car is so heavy it makes it more difficult to stop. so for example To understand this think about stopping a car. If the breaks are applied gently, the momentum of the car is changed gradually over a long period of time and the force on you the passenger is slight. If you STOMP on the breaks, the momentum of the car changes immediately and the force on the passenger is great. The impulse is the same for the two situations but the time and force are different.

Which equation could be the equation of this parabola?
grin007 [14]
D, Because the equation must be in slope intercept (y=mx+b) and since it is going upwards (all positive nunbers) then the slope would be positive as well. I hope this helps!

Cheryl is buying lace for her dance costume. One foot of lace costs 3 dollars. How much does each amount cost?
NemiM [27]

Answer:

3/4 of a foot will cost $2.25.

Step-by-step explanation:

This question is solved by rule of three, due to proportions.

One foot of lace costs 3 dollars. How much is 3/4 of a foot going to cost?

1 foot - 3 dollars

3/4 foot - x dollars

x = 3 \times \frac{3}{4} = \frac{9}{4} = 2.25

So

3/4 of a foot will cost $2.25.

"eight times the difference of a number and three is sixty-four"?
morpeh [17]

Answer:

the number would be 11

Step-by-step explanation:

8    ·    x - 3       =      64

________                 _          (divide both sides by 8)

8                                 8

x - 3  =   8

+ 3         + 3

x  = 11

(check:

11 - 3 = 8

8 x 8 = 64 )

Jon recently drove to visit his parents who live 280 miles away. On his way there his average speed was 9 miles per hour faster
Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

11 mph and 20 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Represent his average speed going by r1 and his average speed returning by r2. We know that r1 = r2 + 9.

Recall that distance = rate times time, so time = distance / rate.

Time spent going was (280 mi) / r1, or (280 mi) / (r2 + 9 mph).

Time spend returning was (280 mi) / r2.

The total time was 14 hrs, so (280 mi) / (r2 + 9 mph) + (280 mi) / r2 = 14 hrs

Note that there is only one variable here: r2. Find r2, and then from r2, find r1:

Dividing all 3 terms by 14 hrs yields:

  20            20

---------- + ----------- = 1

r2 + 9         r2

The LCD here is r2(r2 + 9). Thus, we have:

      20r2                    (r2 +  9)(r2)

------------------- = 1 or  ------------------

(r2 +  9)(r2)               (r2 +  9)(r2)

Then 20(r2) = (r2)^2 + 9(r2). This is reducible by dividing all terms by r2:

20 = r2 + 9, or 11 = r2.  Then r1 = 11 + 9, or 20.

The two rates were 11 mph and 20 mph.
