The comedy as a genre sticks to literary conventions. It starts from adverse situations to a happy or favorable ending. The fact Dante's Divine Comedy begins in hell makes the text secular, or profane. The church in those times was punitive with that type of texts. As a conjecture it can be said that the writer chose to write his views on Christianity in an indirect manner out of fear for negative consequences against him and a way of protection.

Most likely because it was a comedy and he was joking about but if he talked about maybe(these are just guesses) that he is a Christian and didn't want to say anything mean or hurtful cause in the end then he would only be hurting himself or that he didn't want to be clobbered by the Christian because Christians have killed because of there religion just look at the crusades on the soldiers Way they saw Jews and assassinated them because they believed all the Jews were at fault for Jesus's death.

The correct answer is indeed a rhetorical question.
Rhetorical questions are those questions which don't necessarily need an answer. They just show us what somebody is thinking about, and it doesn't mean they want their question answered. This is what the excerpt above is about.

The main idea of the text is that Tanitoluwa Adewumi is a boy who overcame great obstacles to eventually become one of the best chess players in the country. Some details that support this idea are: the fact that Tani's family were refugees from Nigeria and homeless at the time he learned how to play;  the fact that he learned chess less than a year before winning the 52nd New York State Scholastic Championships chess tournament; and the fact that Tani's chess rating started at 105 and is not at 1587.

These details allow you to better understand the main idea because they show what a difficult situation Tani's family faced in the United States. They also show the enormous improvement of Tani's skills. Finally, they show how special he is, and how his persistence paid off.

Answer:

To draw attention and highlight the importance of your speech.

Explanation:

Jefferson uses strong and powerful language to evoke attention to his speech and reaffirm the importance that his words have within that theme. Thus he captures the public's reasoning, which is bound by the seriousness and acidity that the discourse imposes through the arguments presented.

In short, the language chosen by Jefferson is used to emphasize, bring focus and importance to his arguments.
