structure as that for a short story or novel. There is a beginning, a
middle and an end, as well as the usual literary devices such as
character and plot.

This poem is full of figurative language throughout. For example, the first three lines of the poem are metaphors:

The most obvious characteristic of a descriptive poem is that it will have detailed descriptions. Thus, it will be notably void of a narrative that focuses on a story of some sort. In fact, descriptive poetry will focus on imagery and rich detailed descriptions. As such, a descriptive poem would most like cover style and color of a woman’s shoes. Note, however, that a descriptive poem could focus on not just inanimate objects, but on people and animals, too.
