The most obvious characteristic of a descriptive poem is that it will have detailed descriptions. Thus, it will be notably void of a narrative that focuses on a story of some sort. In fact, descriptive poetry will focus on imagery and rich detailed descriptions. As such, a descriptive poem would most like cover style and color of a woman’s shoes. Note, however, that a descriptive poem could focus on not just inanimate objects, but on people and animals, too.
