Ankle weights are usually beneficial for people that have already been doing high activity, and is not recommended for starters. The suggested weight to have on your ankles is about 2lb to 3 lb. Doing bigger, you are taking a chance of increasing the risk of an injury. Although ankle weights help your muscle activity and burn more calories than regular walking, it is not suggested to run with ankle weights. <span />

They get used to such situation such that it is no longer big deal to them anymore and another new experience is needed.
