Recall the endosymbiosis hypothesis and recall endosymbiosis. Remember that the very first cell was a prokaryotic cell. Which engulfed chloroplast precursors and mitochondria. We all come from these cells. And how we evolved over time shows the relationship. I'm a bio major hope I helped

How can insulin deficiency lead to an increase in blood glucose concentration?
MakcuM [25]

When insulin is deficient , GLUT4 transporters are not inserted into the cell membranes , glucose is not transported into the cells and the blood glucose concentration increases.

Insulin deficiency provides more amino acid and glycerol substrates for glucose synthesis  ie increased gluconeogenesis .

With a deficiency of insulin, there is both increased hepatic glucose production through increased glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis as well as decreased glucose use. The result is hyperglycemia.

What is the difference between self-pollination and cross-pollination?
Serhud [2]

The correct answer is that during cross-pollination the pollen grains are carried from one plant to another plant. During self-pollination, the pollen and ovules are from the same plant.

In self-pollination, the pollen from the anther is deposited on the same flower's stigma, or on the stigma of another flower of the similar plant. In comparison, out-crossing or cross-pollination results in greater genetic diversity as the pollen grains and ovules are obtained from different plants.

What are some of the conditions that the cell must regulate in order to maintain homeostasis? Do
Drupady [299]

Answer:

to maintain homeostasis these things must be controlled:

  • pH levels in the body (I.e. the stomach)
  • wanted levels
  • sugar levels
  • level of Co2 in our bodies
  • blood glucose levels
  • body temperature

we maintain homeostasis to ensure that our enzymes, which speed up or make chemical reactions are working well and work within he required conditions.

external things we can do to maintain homeostasis:

  • wearing the appropriate clothing in summer and winter
  • consuming the correct temperature beverages (i.e. cold drinks in summer)
  • consumitn the correct temperature and nutrient required foods (I.e. nutritious pumpkin soup in winter)

we also shiver when we are cold - the friction between our muscles produces heat.

What advantage did the development of bipedalism most likely confer to early hominids?
Ad libitum [116K]
D. Think about other animals... even when they have opposable thumbs, they can't move and hold at the same time. We can RUN and hold food or weapons at the same time.
