Evidence 3: The movement of the continents inferring that they move over another denser layer of the Earth, which formed the ocean floor. This evidence has been debated and is currently considered only one hypothesis.

These data allowed Wegener to calculate that the current continents were united in a remote past of the Earth, forming a supercontinent called "<em>Pangea</em>".
