First, the patient is already 58 years old which predisposes the patient to developing metabolic syndrome (hyperglycemia, obesity, hyperlipidemia, etc.). The patient might be obese and with symptoms of easy fatigability and an alleged heartburn (that can possibly be cardiovascular symptoms congruent with a myocardial infarction), then a probable coronary artery disease is considered.

Laboratory work-up for a suspected coronary artery disease is (1) a 12-L ECG to determine if there is an infarction (non-specific ECG changes or ST segment elevations), and (2) Troponin I, a cardiac biomarker for necrosis. If ECG results are normal then the patient is subjected to a stress test wherein the patient is undergoing an ECG while running on a treadmill to increase myocardial workload and trigger ischemia, if any.

Describe what happens when a cells divide uncontrollably
maria [59]
Cell replication is meant to be a very regulated process. Messages are sent to the cell, telling it when to duplicate and when not to. When cells divide according to their natural plan, then there are no problems. However, when cells either do not receive those messages or misinterpret them, they can divide too fast and without pause. These renegade cells are what we call cancer cells.

Which of the following make mechanical obstruction of the intestinal lumen of the small or large bowel an acute emergency?
Julli [10]

Distention from accumulating gas and fluid impede venous return, leading to bowel wall ischemia.

Explanation:

When the bowel lumen is obstructed, the gases and fuids starts accumulating as a repose to the obstruction. The accumulated fluid and gases results in the swelling or enlargement. This will result in the production of electrolytes and water inside the mumen that is in obstruction. The wall of the bowle will also enlarge and becomes swollen.

As more and more fluid and gas gets accumulated in the bowel, the bowel wall will be enlarged and as there is an increase in the pressure due to this accumulation, the fluid starts to leak from the wall. This will enter peritoneum and necrosis. This will result in an acute emergency when it becomes serious.

Proteins and carbohydrates have many functions in the body of an organism. Specific proteins and carbohydrates perform specific
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

Both store materials needed by the organism.

Explanation:

Proteins and carbohydrates are two biomolecules present in living organisms. They perform varying functions in the body of an organism. According to this question, a specific protein (ferritin) and carbohydrate (glycogen) is described.

Ferritin is a protein molecule containing Iron (Fe). Iron is needed by living organisms as it plays a vital role in organism's metabolism. On the other hand, glycogen is a carbohydrate molecule that is made up of glucose molecules, needed by living organisms.

Based on the description of the two biomolecules provided, they are similar in their primary functions for an organism in the sense that THEY BOTH STORE MATERIALS (glucose and iron) NEEDED BY AN ORGANISM.
