Answer:

Length =  16 feet , width = 4 feet .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given  : The area of a rectangular wall of a barn is 64 square feet. Its length is 8 feet longer than twice its width.

To find : Find the length and width of the wall of the barn.

Solution : We have given

Area of rectangle = 64 square feet.

According to question :

Let width = W.

Length is 8 feet longer than twicw its width .

Length = 2W + 8

L = 2W + 8.

Area of rectangle = length  * width.

Plug the values.

64 = (2W +8 )W .

64 = 2W² + 8W.

On subtracting both sides by 64.

2W² + 8W- 64 = 0

On taking 2 common from all.

W² + 4 W- 32 = 0

On factoring

W² + 8W -4W - 32 = 0

W (W +8) -4 ( W + 8) = 0

On grouping

(W+8)( W -4) = 0

W = -8 feet, W = 4 feet. ( ignore negative value)

Width = 4 feet.

Length = 2 (4)+ 8.

Length = 16 feet.

Therefore, Length =  16 feet , width = 4 feet .

L×w=64 ft^2...(1)
2w+8= l...(2)

l=64-w...(1a)

2w+8= 64-w
2w+w+8=64
3w=64-8
3w÷3= 56÷3
w=18.6'

l×w= 64
l×18.6= 64
l= 64÷18.6
l= 3.44 to the nearest hundredths.

I need to know the area of the walkway and how you got the answer
lakkis [162]

The problem statement asks for the area of the pool. We will assume that is an error, and that you want to fill in the table with the area of the walkway.

Consider a walkway of width w. The outside dimension of the walkway will be 2w plus the dimension of the pool (since there is a walk on either side). Thus, the outside dimensions of the pool and walkway are 9+2w and 12+2w yards.

The area of the pool and walkway will be

... total area = pool area + walkway = (9 + 2w)(12 + 2w) = 9·12 + 2w(9+12) +4w²

... total area = (9·12) + walkway = 9·12 + 42w + 4w²

Subtracting the pool area gives the area of the walkway as

... walkway = 42w + 4w² = 2w(2w+21)

Using this formula, we can fill in the table

\begin{array}{cc}\text{width}&\text{area $(yd^2)$}\\0.5&22\\1.0&46\\1.5&72\\2.0&100\\N&2N(2N+21)\end{array}

Serga [27]

Answer:

6p = 72 --- The equation

The solution is 12 packs i.e. p = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

No options given. So, I will solve generally.

Given

Packs = 6

Quantity = p per pack

Total = 72

Required

Determine the equation

This is calculated using:

Packs * Quantity = Total

6 * p = 72

6p = 72

Divide both sides by 6

p = 12
