Hi there!

<u><em>FACT</em></u><em> :</em>

<em>The method of solving "by substitution" works by solving one of the equations for one of the variables, and then plugging this back into the other equation, "substituing" for the variable and solving for the other.</em>

<u>STEPS TO ANSWER :</u>

x + y = 3

x = <u>6 - 4y</u>

1.

Replace the "x" in the first equation with : 6 - 4y

And then solve the equation by isolating "y".

<u>6</u> - 4y + y = 3

Subtract 6 from each side of the equation → 3 - 6 = -3

<u>-4y + y</u> = -3

Add similar terms together → -4y + y = -3y

<u>-3</u>y = -3

Divide each side of the equation by -3 → -3 ÷ -3 = 1

y = 1

2.

Now that you have the value of "y", it's time to plug its value back into the other equation and solve this equation for "x" :

x = 6 - 4y

y = 1

Replace the "y" in the first equation by : 1

And then solve the equation by isolating "x".

x = 6 <u>- 4(1)</u>

→ -4 × 1 = -4

x = <u>6 - 4</u>

→ 6 - 4 = 2

x = 2

Answer : The solution pair of coordinates is : (2 ; 1).

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there's anything just let me know! :)

Givens

x + y = 3

x =6 - 4y

Solution

Use the top equation to substitute for x in the second equation.

x = 3 - y

Put this result into the second given equation and solve for y

3 - y = 6 - 4y        Add 4y to both sides.

3 - y + 4y = 6       Combine on the left

3 + 3y = 6            Subtract 3 from both sides

3 - 3 + 3y = 6 - 3  Combine

3y = 3                   Divide by 3

3y/3 = 3/3             Combine

y = 1

=========================

x + y = 3               but y = 1

x + 1 = 3                Subtract 1 from both sides.

x + 1 - 1 =3 - 1

x = 2

Answer

x = 2

y = 1

What is the domain and range of<br>-2x + 3y= -12
monitta

Answer:

  "all real numbers"

Step-by-step explanation:

Both the domain and range of any odd-degree polynomial function are "all real numbers." This is a degree 1 function in both x and y, so that description applies.

Answer:

x=7 and y=-1

Step-by-step explanation:

X+Y=6 OR X=6-Y  ...(1)

X-Y=8    ...(2)

substitue X=6-Y in (2)

(6-Y)-Y=8

6-2Y=8

-2Y=8-6

-2Y=2

Y=2/-2\Y=-1 ANS.

for x, substitute Y=-1 in (1) above

X-(-1)=8

X=8-1

X=7 ANS.
