Do a proportion
20/100= 12/x
Cross multiply and divide
12 x 100= 1,200
1,200 divided by 20 is 60
Answer is 60 plants

Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

9/35

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the total trip distance.

Since Maria is assigned to drive 3/7 of the total trip, she is to drive 3x/7.

Now, since Maria has driven 3/5 of 3x/7, the amount of the total trip she has driven is 3/5 × 3x/7 = 9x/35.

So, Maria has driven 9/35 of the total trip.

The average car length is 200 inches. how many feet and inches is the average car
telo118 [61]
So there are 12 inches in a foot. What to do:
1) divide 200 by 12 which is roughly 16.6666 repeating
2) now we know that the average car length is at least 16 feet, but less than 17
3) What I do now, is I take 12 and multiply it by 16
12 x 16 = 192
4) 200-192 = 8
5) 16 feet and 8 inches is the answer

What is 3x^4 + 5x^3 + x^2 - 5 divided by x + 2
Brilliant_brown [7]
Remember, there is a missing term which is crucial to solving this, and that is 0x.

Ima use synthetic division, because that's the quicker option here:

The zero of x+2 is -2...

-2 | 3 5 1 0 -5
-6 2 -6 12
_____________
3 -1 3 -6 7

(Sorry, I'm unsure how to fix the formatting, plus I'm new to this. The -6 and such on the second line should be below the 5 and following of the first line, and the 3 and such on the last line should be below the 3 and following on the first line, leaving a space between the 3 on the first and third line.)

So the answer is: A. 3x^3 - x^2 + 3x - 6 + 7/(x+2)

A psychological study found that men who were distance runners lived, on average, five years longer than those who were not dist
poizon [28]

Answer:

1. There is  not enough evidence to support the claim that men who were distance runners lived, on average, five years longer than those who were not distance runners.

2. The test statistic is t.

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>The question is incomplete:</em>

  1. <em>Test the claim that men who were distance runners lived, on average, five years longer than those who were not distance runners.</em>
  2. <em>Which of the following is the test statistic for the appropriate test to  determine if men who are distance runners live significantly longer, on  average, than men who are not distance runners?</em>

The test statistic is t, as this is a t-test for the difference of means.

The claim is that men who were distance runners lived, on average, five years longer than those who were not distance runners.

Then, the null and alternative hypothesis are:

H_0: \mu_1-\mu_2=5\\\\H_a:\mu_1-\mu_2> 5

The significance level is 0.05.

The sample 1, of size n1=50 has a mean of 84.2 and a standard deviation of 10.2.

The sample 1, of size n1=30 has a mean of 79.2 and a standard deviation of 6.8.

The difference between sample means is Md=5.

M_d=M_1-M_2=84.2-79.2=5

The estimated standard error of the difference between means is computed using the formula:

s_{M_d}=\sqrt{\dfrac{\sigma_1^2}{n_1}+\dfrac{\sigma_2^2}{n_2}}=\sqrt{\dfrac{10.2^2}{50}+\dfrac{6.8^2}{30}}\\\\\\s_{M_d}=\sqrt{2.081+1.541}=\sqrt{3.622}=1.903

Then, we can calculate the t-statistic as:

t=\dfrac{M_d-(\mu_1-\mu_2)}{s_{M_d}}=\dfrac{5-5}{1.903}=\dfrac{0}{1.903}=0

The degrees of freedom for this test are:

df=n_1+n_2-1=50+30-2=78

This test is a right-tailed test, with 78 degrees of freedom and t=0, so the P-value for this test is calculated as (using a t-table):

P-value=P(t>0)=0.5

As the P-value (0.5) is bigger than the significance level (0.05), the effect is not significant.

The null hypothesis failed to be rejected.

There is  not enough evidence to support the claim that men who were distance runners lived, on average, five years longer than those who were not distance runners.
