Using the functionality of the correl() function in excel, which takes in the x and y values of a data. The value of correlation Coefficient (r) obtained is - 0.5379 which indicates that a fairly strong negative correlation exists between the x and y variables. As the the strength of correlation depends on how close the Coefficient is to 1 (strong) or 0 ( weak). Negative value indicates that an increase in the value of one variable leads to a decrease on the value of the other.
