Find the slope and then use one of the points for the y intercept.
\text {the Slope = } \dfrac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x2}

Step One
Find the slope
y2 = 5
y1 = 2
x2 = 2
x1 = 9

\text {the Slope = } \dfrac{5 - 2}{2 - 9}
Slope = 3/-7 I'll leave it that way for now.

Step Two
Find the y intercept

What we have so far is
y = 3/-7 x + b
Use (5,2) to solve for b
y = 2
x = 5

2 = 3*5/-7 + b
2 = 15/-7 + b      Add -15/7 to both sides.
2 + 15/7 = b
b = 2 + 2 1/7
b = 4 1/7
b = 29/7

Answer
y = 3/-7 * x + 29/7

If you have choices, it would be a good idea to list them.

Answer:

The equation of the line is y = -3/7x + 41/7

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the equation of this line, you first need to find the slope. You can do this using the slope equation with the two given points.

m(slope) = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (2 - 5)/(9 - 2)

m = -3/7

Now that we have that, we can use it along with either point in point-slope form. Start with the base form and input it.

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 5 = -3/7(x - 2)

y - 5 = -3/7x + 6/7

y = -3/7x + 41/7

2. Keeping in mind the context of this situation, what is the practical domain and practical range of this function?
Vilka [71]
Since you are already given with how the graph looks like, and you are given the equation to verify the identity of the function, you can determine the domain and range by either inspection of the graph or substituting values to the function.
By inspection, the domain or the possible values of x is any real number from negative infinity to positive infinity or (-∞, +∞).
Again by inspection, the range or the possible values of y is any positive value or any real number greater than 0 to positive infinity or (0, +∞).

On a sunny day, cindy notices that her shadow is 21 inches long. if it is 75 inches from the top of her head to the end of the s
Ray Of Light [21]
Cindy is 72 inches long. Imagine it like a right triangle. Her shadow is the base, she is the side, and the distance between her head and the end of the shadow is the diagonal line connecting the two. Use the Pythagorean theorem to find how tall cindy is.

a²+b²=c²        a=21, the length of the shadow
                       b= ? cindy's height
                     c= 75, the distance from her head to the edge of the shadow
21²+ b²=75²
441 +b² = 5625
-441         -441
------         -------
  0             5184
b² = 5184
√b² =√5184
b= 72

hope it helps

Identify the horizontal asymptote of f(x) =x2+5x-3/4x-1
Pachacha [2.7K]

since the numerator is x² + 5x - 3, and therefore has a degree of 2, whilst the denominator, 4x¹ - 1, has a degree of 1, therefore, there's no horizontal asymptote.

recall, we only get a horizontal asymptote if the denominator's expression degree is equals or greater than that of the numerator's.
