I am pretty sure that device which is used to add emotional intensity in the excerpt is repetition. As for me, such appeal to captain is used to persuade the reader to pay attention and create <span>thrilling tone. I hope you find it helpful.</span>

You can use it for titles, names of vehicles, foreign words, words for sounds like buzz or vroom. Also for when the character is thinking to themselves...in their head. And <span>sometimes to just add emphasis to a word.

I believe the answer is mass hysteria.... The reason why I think this is because in the crucible, Abigail has an affair with John proctor and she goes crazy trying to get him to love her. She even goes as far as to accuse his wife of being a witch. And the John proctor ends up dying at the end of a rope
