I believe the answer is mass hysteria.... The reason why I think this is because in the crucible, Abigail has an affair with John proctor and she goes crazy trying to get him to love her. She even goes as far as to accuse his wife of being a witch. And the John proctor ends up dying at the end of a rope
The Signifcance history of greed and power goes a long way in "The Crucible." The history of greed and power throughout the story goes to show how many people were selfish. they only cared about themselves and nobody else. they believed that everything was meant for them and only them. they only seen themselves in that time of era. As long as things worked out for them, they did not care how others were treated, or living. The power of this played a major role as well. Having power to everyone is different. Some people believed that power was in money. Some people believed that Respect was power. Most of all, some people believed that a reutation was power. Since power menat different things to people, everybody wanted everything. Everything meant that no matter what is it was and what you had to do to get it, it symbolized power. Throughout the story many people had what other's wanted or needed so overall it showed power to the powerless.
The word deflated in paragraph 6 is used to describe a balloon that has all of the air released. The author uses this comparison between the balloon and the bladderwort to help the reader better visualize what is happening. The first sentence describes the bladderwort as pumping out all of it's water. This way when a bug comes by and touches a hair in front of it's door, it can suck in a great deal of water, and with it the bug that is now it's meal.
