Answer:

much <em>more </em>likely;

There is only one car dealership in a small town, giving the dealership the ability to influence the price of cars. - <em>Market power</em>

A person smoking in a restaurant emits second-hand smoke that harms other restaurant patrons. - <em>Externality</em>

Explanation:

<u>Property rights</u> are an incentive for individuals to create goods that are needed on the market. In other words, when a discrepancy between demand and supply occurs on a specific market, entities, businesses or individuals that create the goods are motivated to meet market needs through enforced property rights.

On the other hand, when there is a lack of property rights that regulate the market, <em>market failures</em> occur. Two common types of market failures include <em>market power</em> and <em>externalities</em>.

The car dealership example shows <u>market power</u> in practice, as the reigning company can dictate car prices.

The second example shows an externality, as there is evident influence (cost or benefit) on the third party, which they cannot change. People are affected (negatively) by smoke they did not create.

Can you Describe the system that critics of mining towns referred to as wage slavery? Why did critics adopt this name?
telo118 [61]

ANSWERS: There was a format called Company Town where the company would virtually own and control the entire town including daily need item stores. Workers were lured with attractive wages and accommodation. But, the wages were paid in 'Scrips' which were company printed currency meant to be spent in the stores owned by the company owned and controlled stores inside the company town. This led to the employees getting dependent on employers and their personal freedom and space getting interfered by employers. This relation led to the term 'Wage Slavery'. This practice was continued in mining town till 1960s whereas the concept of company town ended in the 1920s.

MrMuchimi

Answer:

11.68 years

Explanation:

For computing the number of years first we have to applied the NPER formula i.e to be shown in the attachment below:

Given that,

Present value = $11,000

Future value = $19,000

Rate of interest = 6.5%

PMT = $0

The formula is shown below:

= NPER(Rate;PMT;-PV;FV;type)

The present value come in negative

So, after applying the above formula, the number of years is 8.68

Now after 3 years, it would be

= 8.68 + 3

= 11.68 years

On January 1, 2021, Essence Communications issued $800,000 of its 10-year, 8% bonds for $700,302. The bonds were priced to yield
aev [14]

Answer:

A)

before decrease in rates: 706,483

   after rate decrease:            751,360

B)

interest expense 35,015.12

discount on BP 3,015.12

cash 32,000

--bonds first interest payment--

C)

interest expense 35,165.87

discount on BP       3,165.87

cash              32,000

--second interest payment--

D)

unrealized loss 44,877

  discount on bonds payable  44,877

--to adjust bonds valuation--

Explanation:

First, we solve for the present value of the bond to get the proceeds from the issuance.

C \times \frac{1-(1+r)^{-time} }{rate} = PV\\

C 32,000

time 20

rate 0.05

32000 \times \frac{1-(1+0.05)^{-20} }{0.05} = PV\\

PV $398,790.7310

\frac{Maturity}{(1 + rate)^{time} } = PV

Maturity   800,000.00

time   20.00

rate  0.05

\frac{800000}{(1 + 0.05)^{20} } = PV

PV   301,511.59

PV c $398,790.7310

PV m  $301,511.5863

Total $700,302.3173

Now, we do the table for the first year:

# / Principal/      paid /    interest /       Amort/End. P

1 700,302 32000 35015.12 3015.12 703,317

2 703,317 32000 35165.87 3165.87 706,483

Now, we have to redo the calculations for the bonds market value considering a decrease in the market rate to 9%

C \times \frac{1-(1+r)^{-time} }{rate} = PV\\

C 32,000

time 18

rate 0.045

32000 \times \frac{1-(1+0.045)^{-18} }{0.045} = PV\\

PV $389,119.7377

\frac{Maturity}{(1 + rate)^{time} } = PV

Maturity   800,000.00

time   18.00

rate  0.045

\frac{800000}{(1 + 0.045)^{18} } = PV

PV   362,240.30

PV c $389,119.7377

PV m  $362,240.2951

Total $751,360.0328

We adjust for: 751,360 - 706,483 = 44,877

This will be an unrealized loss as the liability increases but, will be realized on the redemption of the bonds or at the end of the bonds' life.

If fixed costs are $46,800, the unit selling price is $42, and the unit variable costs are $24, the break-even sales (units) if
maksim [4K]

Answer: b. 2,340 units

Explanation:

Break-even sales refers to the amount of sales that would give the company $0 profits.

It can be calculated by the formula;

= Fixed Costs / Contribution Margin

Contribution Margin = Sales - Variable costs

= 42 - (24 - 2)

= $20

Breakeven = 46,800/20

= 2,340 units
