This cancer is also associated with mutated gene inherited from either of the parent. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) genes have a crucial role in breast cancer development. Basal-like breast cancer lacks this protein due to which it cannot be treated with tamoxifen and Herceptin. The tamoxifen and Herceptin are the medicines used for cancer therapy or targeted therapy. HER2 positive cancers are really hard to treat.
