Answer:

Given the system of equation:

y = x^2-2x-15          .....[1]

y=8x-40                 ......[2]

Equate these two equations we get;

x^2-2x-15 = 8x-40

Subtract 8x to both sides we have;

x^2-10x-15 =-40

Add 40 to both sides we have;

x^2-10x+25 =0

Using the identity rule:

(a-b)^2 =a^2-2ab+b^2

then;

(x-5)^2 = 0

⇒x-5 = 0

Add 5 to both sides we have;

x = 5

Substitute this value in [2] we have;

y=8(5)-40 = 40-40 = 0

therefore, the solution(s) of the system of equations is, (5, 0)

Keith has $500 in a savings account at the beginning of the summer. He withdraws $25 each week for food, clothes, and movie tick
alexdok [17]

Answer:

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

the inequality is 500 - 25x >= 200

this insures that he will have at least 200 at the end of the summer.

subtract 200 from both sides of that inequality and add 25x to both sides of that inequality to get 500 - 200 >= 25x

simplify to get 300 >= 25x

divide both sides of that equation by 25 to get 300 / 25 >= x

simplify to get 12 >= x

12 >= x means x <= 12.

when x is smaller than or equal to 12, he will be guaranteed to have at least 200 in the account at the end of the summer.

when x = 12, what is left in the account is 500 - 25 * 12 = 200.

when x = 11, what is left in the account is 500 - 25 * 11 = 225.

when x = 13, what is left in the account is 500 - 25 * 13 = 175.

the maximum number of weeks he can withdraw money from his account is 12.

If sales tax is 7.75%, what is the total cost of an 11$ purchase including tax?
Akimi4 [234]

Answer:

$11.8525

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the total price of purchase including sales tax, we need to add sales tax to our total. This can be done as follows: Purchase price + percentage of purchase price as according to sales tax. In the case of your problem, this takes the form of $11 + 0.0775(11). This expression is equivalent to 11.8525.

1790988582563.6448is your answer. All you do is multiply 14 times 1.2, which equals 16.8. Then you do 16.8 times itself. 16.8 x 16.8 = 282.24. Then 282.24 times itself, and so on so forth.
