Dividing a fraction by another fraction is just the first multiplied by the second's inverse, so

\frac{\frac{c}{20} }{\frac{c}{20} } = \frac{c}{20} * \frac{20}{c}\\ = \frac{20c}{20c}\\= 1

If a coin is flipped and then a six-sided number cube is rolled, what is the probability that the outcome will be Heads and a 2?
Lina20 [59]
The probability is 1/12.

There are two outcomes for flipping a coin and 6 for rolling a 6-sided number cube.  The sample space is:
(H, 1), (H, 2), (H, 3), (H, 4), (H, 5), (H, 6)
(T, 1), (T, 2), (T, 3), (T, 4), (T, 5), (T, 6)

There are 12 total outcomes.  Only one has heads and a 2, so the probability is 1/12.

the sum of kyras and calebs age is 37. calebs age is equal to twice the quantity of kyras age decreased by 4. let k represent ky
nasty-shy [4]
Caleb - c
Kyras - k

k+c=37
c=2k-4

k+(2k-4)=37
3k=41
k=41/3= ~13.67 years old

c=37-k
c=(111-41)/3
c=70/3=~23.33 years old

A number m is more than -7 2/3 or at most -10
frutty [35]

This situation is represented by the following disjoint inequality:

m > -\frac{23}{3} \cup m \leq -10

---------------------------

  • The format of a <u>disjoint inequality</u> is:

x > a \cup x \leq b

  • Which is read as: x is more than a or at most b.

---------------------------

  • In this question, we have number m more than -7\frac{2}{3} = -7 - \frac{2}{3} = -\frac{21}{3} - \frac{2}{3} = -\frac{23}{3} and at most -10, thus, the disjoint inequality that represents this situation is:

m > -\frac{23}{3} \cup m \leq -10
