Answer:

Government programs aim to increase incentives for consumers and producers to move toward energy efficiency. Energy efficient products are marked with a label designating them as such under the Energy Star program. This helps consumers make informed decisions when buying products that consume energy. The Alliance to Save Energy is a coalition of businesses that work together to effect policy changes that will improve energy efficiency.

How does research into natural selection and traits help you understand why some butterflies have coloration that looks like the
QveST [7]

Answer/Explanation:

Natural selection - over time - selects for traits that improve fitness. A butterfly with wing coloration that looks like a hungry owl would certainly be a deterrent to their natural predators, such as smaller birds. This is because the owl is the predator of the smaller birds, and their instinct is to avoid the owl.

If a mutation arose that resulting in coloration that looked like an owl, (or at least slightly menacing) this would be beneficial to the butterfly, as it would be more camouflaged from predators. This means it would be more likely to reach reproductive age and pass the mutation onto its offspring, who would also have a competitive advantage.

Over time, this would lead to a population of butterflies with coloration that looks more and more owl-like .

identify a probable reason that the dark moths survived while the light moths did not during the industrial revolution
nignag [31]

Answer:

directional selection

Explanation:

The directional selection is a type of Darwinian selection where a particular phenotype is favored in the population, thereby modifying the allelic frequencies to increase the proportion of the favored phenotype. Biston betularia, also known as peppered moth, is a species that was influenced by directional selection in its recent past. Before the industrial revolution, the frequency of light-colored moths was predominant compared to the darker-colored phenotypes, because this color has higher adaptive fitness in a clean, no pollution environment, thereby light-colored moths were able to avoid predatory birds. However, during the industrial revolution, the frequency of dark-colored moths increased in response to pollution (i.e. darker environment), thereby conferring a higher adaptive fitness to darker phenotypes.
