In both the figures we have a Right Angled Triangle.

Two sides of the right angled triangles are given and we are to find the Third side. This can be done using the Pythagoras Theorem, which states:

Hypotenuse² = Base² + Perpendicular²

For 1st figure, we have
Base = 21
Perpendicular = 20

So,

Hypotenuse² = 20² + 21² = 841
⇒
Hypotenuse = 29 (1st option is correct)

For 2nd Image, we have
Base= 6
Hypotenuse = 10

So, we can write:

10² = 6² + Perpendicular²
Perpendicular² = 64
⇒
Perpendicular = 8 (Option Fourth)

You and a friend want to know how much rope you need to climb a large rock. your friend is 5.5 feet tall and casts a shadow that
Neko [114]
The concept useful in finding the answer to this item is ratio and proportion, the ratio of the height of your friend with the shadow casted should be proportional to the height of the rock with the length of the shadow it cast. That is,
                       5.5 ft / 18 ft = x ft/ 209.5 ft
The value of x from the equation above is 64 ft.

What is 1 half subtract 1 tenth
Anna [14]
To solve for \frac{1}{2}- \frac{1}{10} You first need to find a common denominator.

To do so, you need to make both denominators 10 by multiplying the top and bottom of \frac{1}{2} by 5

\frac{5}{10}- \frac{1}{10}=\frac{4}{10}    Reduce by dividing both the top and bottom by 2

Your answer is \frac{2}{5}

If RV=w and SU=w–30, what is the value of w?
gtnhenbr [62]

Answer:

w = 60

Step-by-step explanation:

the midsegment SU is half the measure of side RV , then

SU = \frac{1}{2} RV , so

w - 30 = \frac{1}{2} w ( multiply through by 2 to clear the fraction )

2w - 60 = w ( subtract w from both sides )

w - 60 = 0 ( add 60 to both sides )

w = 60
