The name "America" is often used to refer to the United States, but until the political formation of the United States after the Revolutionary War, this designation referred to South America only. Contemporary use of the term to refer to the United States underlines that country's political and economic dominance in the western hemisphere. Such use of this designation is impolitic from the perspective of Canadians and Latin Americans.

The United States has an Anglo majority that is politically and economically dominant. One of the defining characteristics of the country as a nation is its legacy of slavery and the persistence of economic and social inequalities based on race.

U.S. culture has significant regional inflections. Most Americans are aware of these differences despite the fact that these regions have experienced economic transformations and that Americans are a mobile people who often leave their regions of origin.

The Northeast is densely populated. Its extensive corridors of urbanization have been called the national "megalopolis." Once a leader in technology and industry, the Northeast has been overtaken in those areas by California's Silicon Valley.

The Midwest is both rural and industrial. It is the home of the family farm and is the "corn belt" and "breadbasket" of the nation. In the Great Lakes area of the upper Midwest, the automobile and steel industries were central to community and economy. As those industries declined, the upper Midwest became known as the rust belt.

The South was shaped by its secession from the Union before the Civil War and is associated with slavery and with subsequent battles over civil rights for African-Americans. In contemporary terms, these are the sunshine states, retirement havens, and new economic frontiers.

how have recent corporate scandals affected US Economic history and the way we view corporations and big businesses?
Over [174]
According to Goffman, stigma functions as a kind of reputational bankruptcy, in which the actual self cannot make good on the implicit promises of the virtual self. The best course of action for an executive stigmatized by scandal is to borrow, as it were, reputation and legitimacy from someone else. Managers who have extensive external networks, or who are in fields that emphasize individual reputations, may be able to acquire such cover through existing relationships.

For many others, executive search firms can serve as both the reference and the sponsor. Indeed, the importance of the research that these firms perform lies not only in the exonerating information but also in the time and energy that gathering such information represents. Search firms are hired by companies, not by job seekers, and will not invest in an in-depth background check unless they already believe in the candidate’s innocence and value on the job market. Their investigations provide a form of reputational voucher.

emmasim [6.3K]

The correct option is (A). Perceptual confirmation is the idea that: observers will see what they expect to see.

Perceptual confirmation:

The propensity for people to see things in accordance with their own views, preconceptions, or expectations is known as PERCEPTUAL CONFIRMATION.

For instance, if you anticipate working on a project with someone who belongs to a stigmatized group (such as someone who has schizophrenia), you are more likely to view them favourably than you would otherwise. Why? Because you are highly driven to think this person will be a good spouse if you think you'll have to engage with them in the future! This is but one illustration of how we frequently see only what we want to see.

Answer:

Industry versus inferiority

Explanation:

Industry versus inferiority: Erik Erikson has given eight stages of psychosocial development in which industry versus inferiority is the fourth stage of development and it occurs during childhood between five to twelve years of age.

During this stage, a child performs efficiently and increasingly complex tasks. Hence, they attempt to gain mastery of new skills. Any child who is being commended and encouraged by teachers and parents tends to believe in their abilities and gain a feeling of competence. They learn to write and read.

Hence, the 10-year-old child in the given question is developing industry versus inferiority.
