Calculate the minimum number of nucleotides required in the coding region of the LDS2B mRNA molecule to produce and terminate th
Alexandra [31]

1698 is the minimum number of nucleotides required in the coding region of the LDS2B mRNA molecule to produce and terminate the 565-amino acid polypeptide.

TWO reasons why the number of nucleotides in the mature RNA may differ from the number of base pairs in the gene are:

i) because gene contains non coding sequence also called as introns +exons while mature mRNA contains only exons.

ii) genes have promoter region while mature mRNA does not have so.

Explanation:

The minimum number of nucleotides in the coding region of a mRNA sequence or molecule is number of amino acids multiplied by three. There are triplet codon or 3 nucleotides which code for an amino acid.

number of nucleotides = number of amino acids x 3

number of nucleotides = 565 x 3

number of nucleotides= 1695 nucleotides

The stop codon would also be added as it is a part of mature RNA so

1695 + 3 = 1698

The coding region or exons carry only the nucleotides which code for amino acid polypeptide chain.

The two reasons why number of nucleotides in mature RNA and gene is different:

1) Because the gene carries both introns (non-coding regions) and exons (coding region) and mature mRNA after spicing removes the introns and has only exons which are read by the tRNA to carry amino acids in translation.

2) Genes consist of promoter region which are not transcribed hence not transferred to mRNA. Although mRNA is transcribed using the promoter region.

Earth has an abundant supply of water and it is essential for human beings to live. More than half of an adult body mass is wate
miskamm [114]

Answer:

<em>The correct option is C.  Water is an excellent solvent.</em>

Explanation:

Plasma can be described as blood which is made up of 92% water. The basic role that water plays in the plasma is of a solvent. It readily dissolves substances in it and transports them. Hence. option C is correct.

Option A cannot e considered because moderation of temperature won't fulfil the task of the blood i.e transportation.

Option B cannot be considered because expansion or compression of water are not such factors which help in blood transportation.

How would the introduction of a predator species affect the stability of an ecosystem
ss7ja [257]

The predator species keeps the prey species under control. Without predators, prey animals would over populate.

Hope this helped.

How can a mutation give adults the the ability to digest milk?
m_a_m_a [10]

A single point mutation in the DNA near the lactase gene changes the cytosine (C) nucleotide to a thymine (T). Individuals with the thymine (T) nucleotide are lactose tolerant and can digest the milk products in adulthood.

Soil is a combination of tiny rock fragments and decayed plant materials. How do you think soil helps a plant
strojnjashka [21]
The dirt and fragments decompose and give the plant proteins/nutrients. Soil also anchors roots down and provides some water
