Hi there!
The standard form of the equation of a circle is:(x-a)^{2} + (y-b)^{2} =  r^{2}

With (a, b) representing the centre and r representing the radius of the circle. Since the centre of the circle is (0, 0) and the radius is 3, we get the following equation:
(x-0)^{2} + (y-0)^{2} = 9 \\   x^{2} + y^{2} =   9

~ Hope this helps you!

Find the area of the circle. Round to the nearest whole number
GuDViN [60]

Hello!

\mathcal{GIVEN:}

  • Diameter of the circle = 12 cm

\mathcal{TO\:FIND:}

Area of the Circle

\mathcal{SOLUTION:}

A=πr²

Hey! We have the diameter, not the radius.

Don't panic. In order to find the radius, we should divide the diameter by 2.

So, the radius is 6.

Plug it into the formula:

A=π(6)²

A=π(36)

A≈113 cm

Hope it helps!

Good luck and enjoy your day!

the slope of line PQ is m= 1/4. find the equation of the line that is parallel to line PQ and that has the y intercept b= -3
nevsk [136]
For this case we have that the generic equation of the line is given by:
 y = mx + b

 Where,
 m: slope of the line
 b: intersection with the y axis.
 Since the line is parallel to PQ, then the slopes are equal.
 We have then:
 m = 1/4.

 On the other hand we have:
 b = -3

 Substituting values we have:
 y = (1/4) x - 3
 Answer:
 The equation of the line that is parallel to line PQ and that has the and intercept b = -3 is:
 y = (1/4) x - 3

Amelia wants to rearrange the furniture in her room. She makes a scale drawing of her rectangular room,
vovangra [49]

Answer:

The other side = 13 feets long

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that :

Scale of drawing : 2 inches represents 5 feets

Area of rectangular room according to scale drawing = 24.96 in²

Length of one side of the room = 12 feets

Length of other side = x

Area of rectangle = Length * width

If :

2 inches = 5 feets

x = 12 feets

x = (12 *2) / 5

x = 4.8 inches

Hence,

For the scaled drawing :

4.8 * width = 24.96

Width = 24.96 / 4.8

Width = 5.2 inches

Converting to feets according to scale:

2 inches = 5 feets

5.2 inches = x feets

x = (5.2 * 5 ) / 2

x = 13 feets

Other side is 13 feets long

There are 96 children in a room.
Olenka [21]

Answer:

7/12

Step-by-step explanation:

Basically to find the boys fraction I subtracted 40 from 96 and got 56. Your answer for the number of boys would be 56/96. I divided 4 from each and got 14/24. lastly I divide by 2 and got 7/12.

The percentage of body fat of a random sample of 36 men aged 20 to 29 found a sample mean of 14.42. Find a 95% confidence interv
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

14.42-1.96\frac{6.95}{\sqrt{36}}=12.150

14.42+ 1.96\frac{6.95}{\sqrt{36}}=16.690

So on this case the 95% confidence interval would be given by (12.150;16.690)

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

\bar X=14.42 represent the sample mean

\mu population mean (variable of interest)

\sigma=6.95 represent the population standard deviation

n=36 represent the sample size

Solution to the problem

The confidence interval for the mean is given by the following formula:

\bar X \pm z_{\alpha/2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}   (1)

Since the Confidence is 0.95 or 95%, the value of \alpha=0.05 and \alpha/2 =0.025, and we can use excel, a calculator or a table to find the critical value. The excel command would be: "=-NORM.INV(0.025,0,1)".And we see that z_{\alpha/2}=1.96

Now we have everything in order to replace into formula (1):

14.42-1.96\frac{6.95}{\sqrt{36}}=12.150

14.42+ 1.96\frac{6.95}{\sqrt{36}}=16.690

So on this case the 95% confidence interval would be given by (12.150;16.690)
