A scientist wants to test whether the pH, salinity, and temperature of seawater impacts coral development. He sets up an experim

ent with three conditions: Aquarium 1: Normal pH, normal salinity, normal temperature Aquarium 2: High pH, high salinity, high temperature Aquarium 3: Low pH, low salinity, low temperature He finds that coral grow the least in Aquarium 2. He concludes that coral does not grow well in conditions with high salt. Why is this an invalid conclusion?
The experiment does not have a control group.
The experiment changes more than one variable at once.
The experiment does not have an experimental group.
The experiment does not measure any dependent variables.

The conclusion that coral does not grow well in conditions with high salt is invalid because (B) The experiment changes more than one variable at once.

In order to correctly study the effect of three variables on there needs to be, 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 different aquariums (every variable takes 3 different values and there are 3 different variables).

In these aquariums, only one condition needs to be varied at a time to study its effect. To study the condition with high salt, the temperature and pH needs needs to be kept fixed at a particular value whilst varying the salinity from normal to low to high.

Which post disaster phase is generally characterized by optimism due to an infusion of resources?
Tamiku [17]
I think the answer is Honeymoon phase. Post disaster periods are usually divided into four phases. These includes; Heroic phase, Honeymoon phase, Disillusionment phase and Reconstruction phase. Heroic phase occurs immediately after the disaster strikes. Honeymoon phase occurs immediately in the first few days after the disaster. Disillusionment phase, the community and the survvors are already getting tired and impatient. Reconstruction phase, it is the long term phase of the disaster where we must manage the expectations of the public regarding the ongoing recovery process.

Some hormones are soluble in water, while others are not. Cortisol is a steroid hormone. Lutenizing hormone (LH) is a glycoprote
andrezito [222]

Answer:

One of the characteristic feature of the phospholipid bi- layer is that like dissolve likes. Therefore, polar molecules and compounds pass though the hydrophllic heads, while non-polar lipid soluble substances pass through the hydrophobic tail, but can not diffuse across the head.

The plasma membrane is amphipathic. It is made up of the hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails

Cortisol is made of lipid. Therefore,it will diffuse easily across the bi layer of the plasma membrane though the tail, while LH and Epinephrine, will not diffuse across this hydrophobic barriers, since they are made up of polar molecules.

Explain the process of mitosis in a tissue culture for normal cells.
babunello [35]
Mitosis simply refers to cell division in which one cell divides and produce two new cells that are identical.

Here are the steps:
(1) Prophase
(a) Early prophase when cells starts to break down some structures and build others up. It sets up the stage when the chromosome is dividing.(b) Prometaphase, mitotic spindle begins to capture and organize the chromosomes.

(2) Metaphase
The spindle has captured all the chromosomes. They lined them up at the middle of the cell making it ready for division.

(3) Anaphase
The sister chromatids separate from each other and are pulled towards opposite ends of the cell.

(4) Telophase
The cell is nearly finished dividing, and it starts to re-establish normal internal structures as cytokinesis takes place.

A scientific study looked at the effect of tanning beds on DNA damage. The scientists took skin cells and exposed them to UV rad
forsale [732]

Answer:

Tanning of DNA using UV light at different time (1 minutes, 15 minutes, and 30 minutes)

Explanation:

Independent variable is the variable that was controlled or change and in this case it is the tanning of DNA with UV light at different times and the dependent variable is what is measured or the effect of the change in the independent variable which is DNA damage and the control was the cells that did not receive the treatment.
