The area of the trapezoid
ELEN [110]

Answer:

<h2>A = 82.5 in²</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of an area of a trapezoid:

A=\dfrac{b_1+b_2}{2}\cdot h

b₁, b₂ - bases

h - height

We have b₁ = 10in, b₂ = 5in and h = 11in. Substitute:

A=\dfrac{10+5}{2}\cdot11=\dfrac{15}{2}\cdot11=7.5\cdot11=82.5\ in^2

An amusement park sold a total of 86 tickets. 34 of the tickets were child tickets, and the rest were adult tickets. What is the
xxMikexx [17]
Think of a ratio as a fraction. A ratio is basically another form of a fraction, and vice versa.

There are three ways that a ratio can be shown:

1:4

1 to 4
\frac{1}{4}

Let's look at the problem.

We know that:

There were 86 tickets sold in total.

34 of the tickets sold were child tickets.

Let's look at the question now.

It is asking for the ratio of the number of adult tickets to the total number of tickets.

We already know that there are 86 tickets in total.

We can simplify the question.

Now the question looks like: What is the ratio of the number of adult tickets to 86 tickets?

Since ratio doesn't require units, we can change the question to: What is the ratio of the number of adult tickets to 86?

Now, we don't know the number of adult tickets...yet.

We do know, however, that 34 of the tickets sold were child tickets, and that 86 tickets were sold in total.

To find out the number of adult tickets sold, we can simply subtract 86 (total amount of tickets sold), by 34 (# of child tickets sold).

86 - 34 = 52

Now, we know that 52 adult tickets were sold, and that 86 tickets were sold in total.

All that's left to do is to put the information together.

The question is: What is the ratio of the number of adult tickets to 86?

Or

What is the ratio of 52 (# of adult tickets sold) to 86?

Now, remember that ratio can be written in 3 ways. One of the ways is to use "to" between the two numbers being compared.

The problem is basically stating: 52 to 86

The ratio of the number of adult tickets to the total number of tickets is 52 to 86, or 52:86, or
\frac{52}{86}
Wait. We can simplify the ratio. Remember that fractions can be simplified?

Both 52 and 86's GCF...

{Greatest Common Factor (the number by which two quantities (numbers) can be divided equally) }

...is two.

So,
\frac{52}{86}  =  \frac{26}{43}
The final answer would be: The ratio of the number of adult tickets to the total number of tickets is 26 to 43, 26:43, or
\frac{26}{43}
.

A jar contains 45 red candies and 60 black candies suppose a candy is selected at random what are the odds agianst selecting red
lara [203]
First you add up the red and black so see how many she has total.
45 + 60= 105
then if you need to find the probability of the red candies you put
45/ 105
then you can simplify it so it would be 8/21

45+60=105
45/105= 8/21
