The position function of a particle in rectilinear motion is given by s(t) s(t) = t3 - 9t2 + 24t + 1 for t ≥ 0 with t measured i

Answer:

s = 21\ ft\\\\a = -6\ \frac{ft}{s^2}

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the changes in the slope of the function s(t) we find its derivative

\frac{ds(t)}{dt} = 3t^2 - 18t +24\\

Now we make \frac{ds(t)}{dt} = 0

3t^2 - 18t +24 = 0

3t^2 - 18t +24\\\\3(t^2-6t + 8)\\\\3(t-4)(t-2)\\\\t_1 =4\\t_2=2\\

The particle changes direction for the first time at t = 2 sec

The position at t = 2 sec is:

s(t=2) = (2)^3 - 9(2)^2 + 24(2) + 1\\\\\s(2) = 21\ ft

The acceleration after t = 2 sec is the second derivative of s(t), evaluated at t = 2:

\frac{d^2s(t)}{d^2t} = 6t -18\\\\\frac{d^2s(t)}{d^2t}(2) = 6(2) -18\\\\ a = 12-18\\\\a = -6\ \frac{ft}{s^2}

Answer:

The position is 21 feet

The acceleration is -6 ft/sec²

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ s(t) = t³ - 9t² + 24t + 1

- where s is the displacement in feet and t is the time in second

∵ v(t) = ds/dt ⇒ velocity is the differentiation of s(t)

∵ a(t) = d²s/dt² = dv/dt ⇒ acceleration is the differentiation of v(t)

∴ v(t) = 3t² - 18t + 24

∵ When the particle reverses means v(t) = 0

∴ 3t² - 18t + 24 = 0 ⇒ ÷ 3

∴ t² - 6t + 8 = 0

∴ (t - 2)(t - 4) = 0

∴ t - 2 = 0 ⇒ t = 2 seconds

∴ t - 4 = 0 ⇒ t = 4 seconds

- That means the particle will change its direction first after 2 seconds

  and again after 4 seconds

∵ a(t) = dv/dt

∴ a(t) = 6t - 18

∵ t = 2

∴ a(2) = 6(2) - 18 = 12 - 18 = -6 ft/sec²

∵ s(t) = t³ - 9t² + 24t + 1

∴ s(2) = 2³ - 9(2)² + 24(2) + 1 = 21 feet

A monument in a park is shaped like a square pyramid. The dimensions are shown in the net. What is the surface area of the monum
vampirchik [111]

The surface area of the monument shaped like a square pyramid is 14 m².

<h3>Area </h3>

Area is the amount of space that is occupied by a two dimensional shape or object.

From the diagram

Area of each triangle = (1/2) * base * height = (1/2) * 2 * 2.5 = 2.5 m²

Area of square = length * length = 2 m * 2 m = 4 m²

Surface area of monument = 4(2.5) + 4 = 14 m²

The surface area of the monument shaped like a square pyramid is 14 m².

Which point on the number line represents -4/5? <br> A<br> B<br> C<br> D
VLD [36.1K]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

theare are 5 part from 0 to -1

since, the value from 0 to -1 is -1 then if we break it to 5 part, each part has value of -1/5

so, to be -4/5, -1/5 must be multiplied by 4, so we need to go to the 4th part from 0, so it A

Twice the difference of a number + -3 is 4 find the number
NNADVOKAT [17]

Answer:

The number is 5

Step-by-step explanation:

If we need to find the hidden number, Which for simplicity's sake we will denote as "n", lets first write out the equation.

"2 x [n + (-3)] = 4"

We can work through this problem backwards. if we need two times the sum of "n" and (-3) to get to 4, the only number that can be multiplied by 2 to get a product of 4 is 2, so "n" + (-3) must equal 2. so, From here, we can figure out that since 5 + (-3) equals 2, "n" Must equal 5. so, if we plug in 5 for "n" the equation looks like this:

"2 x [5 + (-3)] = 4"

So, since the equation makes sense, the answer is, "n = 5"

Which tools can be used for inductive reasoning?
frosja888 [35]
Inductive reasoning is a kind of reasoning the involves taking specific information and from these information, will create a broader generalization or conclusion. This includes providing strong evidence for the truth of the conclusion. The tools that can be used for inductive reasoning are observation, experimentation and facts.
