The Central Pacific Railroad was a rail track between California and Utah built eastwards from the West Coast in the 1860s. The crews were mainly composed by Chinese workers lured to America first by the California gold and then by railroad jobs. While the Union Pacific Railroad was built westwards from Omaha. And the crews were composed of former Union and Confederate soldiers,  former slaves, and Irish and German immigrants. All varieties of issues delayed the attempt to finish the transcontinental line. How would you account for the cold homecoming American soldiers received when they returned from Vietnam?
olga_2 [115]

Answer:

American solders coming back home from war faced the consequences of media and propaganda broadcasting what happened during the war. After witnessing the horrors media was portraying about the War, such as soldiers unnecessarily killing children and women in cold blood, many Americans became "anti-war" and manifested their opinions very strongly to the point of calling the soldiers "baby killers." So, when said soldiers came back home, they were seen as monsters who would commit atrocities against people who had nothing to do with the war.
