Question 2(Multiple Choice Worth 3 points)

Mathematics

Question 2:

The mean would decrease,

Mean is calculated by adding all the values from a data set together (I.e. 55+57+59+62+63+140) and than dividing that number by how many values were added; in this case that would be (436/6) which gives us 72.66666.......

If we take the knowledge learned from the explanation above and do the same thing but exclude the value of 140. ((55+57+59+62+63)/5)

which gives us 59.2 as our mean, which is decreased from 72.6666 that it was before.

I however do not know question 3 as I do not fully know IQR, sorry.

Q2. mean [ with 140 in place is] = 436/ 6 = 72 and 2/3rds.

mean [without 140 in place = 296/5 = 59.2

that means the mean would definitely decrease.

a traveler has 7 pieces of luggage . how many ways can the traveler select 3 pieces of luggage for a trip
7nadin3 [17]
Well, you could assign a letter to each piece of luggage like so...

A, B, C, D, E, F, G

What you could then do is set it against a table (a configuration table to be precise) with the same letters, and repeat the process again. If the order of these pieces of luggage also has to be taken into account, you'll end up with more configurations.

My answer and workings are below...

35 arrangements without order taken into consideration, because there are 35 ways in which to select 3 objects from the 7 objects.

210 arrangements (35 x 6) when order is taken into consideration.

*There are 6 ways to configure 3 letters.

Alternative way to solve the problem...

Produce Pascal's triangle. If you want to know how many ways in which you can choose 3 objects from 7, select (7 3) in Pascal's triangle which is equal to 35. Now, there are 6 ways in which to configure 3 objects if you are concerned about order.

Step-by-step explanation:

Distributive method:

 • a(b + c) = ab + ac

Here given:

 • 7 × 39

Among the option's:

1st option (7 + 3) (7 + 9) is wrong, changes final answer.

2nd option (7 × 30) + 9 is wrong, changes final answer.

3rd option 39 × 7 shows commutative property of multiplication.

4th option show distributive method.
