It all began with Effie's getting something in her eye. It hurt very much indeed, and it felt something like a red-hot spark—onl

y it seemed to have legs as well, and wings like a fly. Effie rubbed and cried—not real crying, but the kind your eye does all by itself without your being miserable inside your mind—and then she went to her father to have the thing in her eye taken out. Effie's father was a doctor, so of course he knew how to take things out of eyes.
Based on the exposition in this paragraph what do we know about Effie?

A. Effie is playing.
B. Effie is fearful.
C. Effie is in pain.
D. Effie is angry.

I'm guessing C but I'm a little confused. Also what is exposition, I can't remember.

C because she is in pain and we can eliminate A,b, and d, because she isn't playing nor fearful and she is more in pain than angry (:

What evidence from the January 15, 1944 diary entry suggests that there is increasing tension among the residents of the Annex?
Stels [109]

Hello. You forgot to mention that this book is about "Anne Frank's diary".

Answer:

The message about Ms. Van Daan being jealous of the birthday gift Ms. Frank received and the message about her Frank family not being able to stand the Van Daan anymore.

Explanation:

The January 15, 1944 entry from Diario de Anne, shows that there were tensions between the Frank family and the Van Daan family.

Anne shows in this entry that Mrs. Van Daan was jealous because Ms. Frank won sugar on her birthday. That's because Ms. Van Daan didn't get such a precious gift for her birthday. Anne says that in order to contain tensions, the two families are sharing many things, because there is no point in attacking each other, but Anne says that the Franks can no longer support sharing the same space with the Van Daan, but that the war continues , so they have nothing to do but live together.

Passive sentences are: Contract is provided (most appropriated), forms that are completed (least appropriated), You are provided. (most appropriated)

Explanation:

The question is not complete since it does not provide the sentences to analyze or the chart to categorize them, here are the chart and the sentences in the picture.

There are some differences between active and passive sentences beyond the structures given, for instance, the passive sentences will focus on the objects as the main element of the sentence, the passive sentences sometimes make a message difficult to read, and they are used in most of the sentences that have inanimate objects.

Based on these excerpts, how do the Haida and Maori cultures view the mother-child relationship?
Travka [436]

The Haida and Maori cultures view the mother-child relationship as:

Both view mothers as caring and protective over their children.

The Haida myth focuses on creating light and people. The Haida creation myth is about a trickster who stole the sun, the moon and the stars in order to bring light to his own world. Even though he created animals, fish, trees, men, and all the creatures, they lived in darkness because he stole light.

On the other hand, the Maori myth focuses mostly on the relationship between parts of nature. The Maori creation myth tells the story how humans were born and how nature helped in their birth by sacrificing themselves.

Hope it helps.
