Those factors include philosophy, political systems, technology, trade, and military developments. When establishing an empire, desire for more resources, a better standard of living for its people and the desire for power among its leaders were big factors. But so were the philosophies of the people of a country.
D<span>emocracy makes rulers accountable to the people they rule by ensuring that the people can decide who gets voted into a particular office--and therefore who makes decisions regarding the country or state. Voters can then vote these representatives out of office if they so choose. </span>
The magistrates were responsible for <em>taking care of the finances and judicial obligations</em> throughout the Roman Republic.
But honestly, some magistrates were even responsible for <em>entertainment</em><em> </em>- for those within Rome, such as <em>festivals</em> and <em>games</em><em> </em>for those to enjoy (think of it as the magistrates being the party hosts and the bankers).
