An RNA codes for protein synthesis. A triplet of nucleotides/bases in RNA helps in adding an amino acid into the protein strand. This triplet of nucleotides is knwon as codon and helps in adding amino acid which is specific to it. For example, AUG triplet codes for methionine while UGG codes for tryptophan. The amino acids get added in protein strand unless a stop codon is reached. Triplets UAA, UAG & UGA are stop codons. Here it may be noted that initially a polypeptide chain is synthesized by RNA but the ultimate goal of making that polypeptide chain is protein synthesis.
RNA (ribonucleic acid) contains codon (a sequence of three nucleotides that code for particular amino acid) sequences that help in the process of protien synthesis (translation).
The genetic information is transferred particularly from mRNA to proteins at the site called ribosomes.
tRNA (transfer RNA) molecule arrives at ribosome with specific amino acid according to the codon present in the mRNA.
In this way, a long chain of amino acids is assembled to form proteins.
