Answer:

  the two signs are the same

Step-by-step explanation:

Whenever the quotient or product of two operands is positive, the signs of the operands are both the same, both negative or both positive.

__

Comment on the general case

Whenever the product of any number of operands is positive, the number of negative signs among the factors is even.

A quotient is the product of one operand and the reciprocal of another (the denominator). A number and its reciprocal have the same sign.

Evaluate log 8 base 5
Sergeu [11.5K]

The answer is 1.29029.

  • Given : log_{5}8
  • To evaluate the given equation.
  • Solution:

       log_{5}8=log(8)/log(5)

       As we know, log8=0.9030899 and log(5)=0.69897000

     So equating is the above equation, we get;

     log_{5}8=0.9030899/0.6989700

    log_{5}8=1.292029

Hence, The answer of log_{5}8 is 1.29029.

Add:
3x+9+8x + 12
2x + 6+x² + 6x + 9
Oxana [17]

I'll treat these like they're two seperate problems because how you set it up they're not together. If it's one whole problem please tell me and I'll solve it that way. :-)

First one: 3x+9+8x + 12

Collect like terms and simplify

(3x+8x)+(9+12)

11x+21

Second one: 2x + 6+x² + 6x + 9

Collect like terms and simplify

(2x+6x)+(6+9)+x^{2}

8x+15+x^{2}

Hope this helps you, have a BLESSED and wonderful day, as well as a safe one!

The length of a rectangle is 5ft longer than twice the width if the perimeter is 58 ft find the length and width of the rectangl
Travka [436]
----------------------------------
Define x :
----------------------------------
Let the width be x.
Width = x
Length = 2x + 5                // Length is 5ft longer than twice the width

----------------------------------
Formula for Perimeter :
----------------------------------
Perimeter = 2 (Length + Width)

----------------------------------
Find Width :
----------------------------------
58 = 2 ( 2x + 5 + x)         // Substitute Length and Width into formula
58 = 2 (3x + 5)                // Combine like terms
58 = 6x + 10                    // Apply distributive property
48 = 6x                            // Take away 10 from both sides
6x = 48                            // Switch sides. Make x the subject
x = 8                                // Divide by 6 on both sides

----------------------------------
Find Length and Width :
----------------------------------
Width = x = 8 ft
Length = 2x + 5 = 2(8) + 5 = 21 ft

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: The length is 21 ft and the width is 8 ft.
