James Madison <em>helped establish America's first political party</em>, the Republicans. He set up the first party newspaper and joined Thomas Jefferson on a trip to collect political allies, though he stated that he travelled to collect biological specimens. He is considered <em>the father of American politics</em>. The old Republicans are still present today as the Democrats.
