Explanation:

Compounds are combination of elements that have unique properties different from that of its combining atoms.

There are millions of compounds in the universe that are derived from simple chemical reactions. There are different ways to classify compounds.

Presence of carbon:

 • Organic and inorganic compounds are two main categories of carbon.
 • Those with a backbone of carbon usually naturally occurring are the organic compounds.
 • Those not with a carbon rich backbone are inorganic compounds

Behavior when exposed to the atmosphere:

 • They are classified as deliquescent, hygroscopic and efflorescent
 • Deliquescent are those that absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and forms a solution
 • Hygroscopic are those that absorbs water and becomes wet.
 • Efflorescent are those that gives out water

Compounds can also be classified as acids, bases and salts.

The most basic definition of cellular respiration is that it is cells breaking down food to make energy. True or false?
fredd [130]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

In cells, energy is obtained from food through the process of cellular respiration. In mitochondria, this occurs through aerobic respiration- here, cells breakdown sugars like glucose into carbon dioxide and water and energy in the form of ATP or adenosine triphosphate.

In cellular aerobic respiration:

C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≅38 ATP
