NKVD or the Secret Police of the Soviet Union was an executive department working as the law enforcing organization that operated according to the will of the “All-Union Communist Party”. NKVD stands for People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. The agency aimed at identifying the traitors of the Communist party and other dealing such as fireguards, transportations, and border guards. NKVD Secret Police was its part as GUGB that was responsible for States Security of the nation.

The agency experienced many modifications amid the period of 1938-1939. NKVD acted in just the same manner as other police services along with the matters related to State Security and Police Department. It also used to handle administrative issues such as Transportation, Border Security, Fire guards. As it is under the influence Ministry of Interior its recruitments were allotted by Ministry itself. Apart from all this the organizations were under political subjugation and were assigned to sanctioned murders, political assassinations and grew much influential under the leadership of Joseph Stalin.
