2. Why do you think the cell has a method for producing ATP even when no oxygen is present?

I think the reason we are able to produce ATP without oxygen is because what we were running for our lives and had to stop every time our muscles need oxygen. If this was true we would die. So the reason we can produce ATP without oxygen is because it is a survival mode.

In a "fight or flight" (life or death) situation, the body has to be ready to defend itself. As an example, if someone where trying to kill you, you would be able to run without getting tired. However, to do this your cells would have to go through anaerobic respiration (the creation of ATP without oxygen). It will not yield as much energy as aerobic respiration, and will result in lactic acid build up (which causes cramps), but it will allow you to be able to run or to fight for your life in a critical situation.

How are viruswa different from bacteria ? <br> Answer: a .viruses are not alive .
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

Viruses are tinier than bacteria. In fact, the largest virus is smaller than the smallest bacterium. All viruses have is a protein coat and a core of genetic material, either RNA or DNA. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't survive without a host.

So life itself is an emergent, complex state, but it is made from the same fundamental, physical building blocks that constitute a virus. Approached from this perspective, viruses, though not fully alive, may be thought of as being more than inert matter: they verge on life.

There are 100 cats in a population that follows hardy-weinberg conditions. 4 cats display a recessive white coat color. how many
mr Goodwill [35]

We know that Hardy-Weinberg conditions include the following equations:

p^{2}+2pq+ q^{2}=1

where p+q=1

And where p = dominant, and q = recessive; this means that p^{2} is equal to the homozygous dominant, 2pq is the heterozygous, and q^{2} is the homozygous recessive .

So we have 100 total cats, with 4 having the recessive white coat color. That means we have a ratio of \frac{4}{100} or 0.04. Let that equal our q^{2} value.

So when we solve for q, we get:

q^{2}=0.04

q=\sqrt{0.04} =0.2

Now that we have our q value, we can use the other equation to find p:

p+q=1

p+0.2=1

p=0.8

So then we can solve for our heterozygous population:

2pq=2(0.8)(0.2)=0.32

This is the ratio of the population. So we then multiply this number by 100 to get the number of cats that are heterozygous:

0.32*100=32cats

So now we know that there are 32 heterozygous cats in the population.
