The Pythagorean Theorem states that: "the sum of the squares of the legs is equal to the square of the hypotenuse."
a² + b² = c² or  c² = a² + b²

Note¹: <span>Hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle.
</span>Note²: The legs are the sides that are not opposite the right angle.

Examples: (<span>Use the attachments for better understanding:)
</span>
<span>*First example
</span>x^2 = 9^2 + 12^2
x^2 = 81 + 144
x^2 = 225
x =  \sqrt{225}
\boxed{x = 15}\end{array}}\qquad\quad\checkmark

Second example:
x^2 = 10^2 + 40^2
x^2 = 100 + 1600
x^2 = 1700
x = \sqrt{1700}
\boxed{x \approx 41.23}\end{array}}\qquad\quad\checkmark

You would have to do length times width. So you would do 6*6 then you will get 36. After that you would want to do 36*3. You would then get 108. The answer is B. 108 ft^2.

Hannah has $3.10 in her piggy bank in nickels and quarters. If there are 22 coins in her piggy bank, how many are nickels and ho
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

12\ nickel

10\ quarter

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

1\ nickel=\$0.05

1\ quarter=\$0.25

Let

x------> the number of nickel coins

y-----> the number of quarter coins

we know that

x+y=22

x=22-y -----> equation A

0.05x+0.25y=3.10 ----> multiply by 100 both sides

5x+25y=310 -----> equation B

Substitute equation A in equation B and solve for y

5(22-y)+25y=310

110y-5y+25y=310

20y=310-110

20y=200

y=10\ quarter

x=22-y  ------> x=22-10=12\ nickel
