Amber says 2.76/6 gets an answer of 0.19.Is Amber's answer reasonable. (Choose One) A:No,because 0.2x3=0.6 B:No,because 0.2x6=1.
Butoxors [25]

Answer:

No, her answer is unreasonable because 0.2 * 6 = 1.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Here in this question, we are trying to use an approximation to see if what was said to be the result of a calculation is reasonable as an answer.

Looking at her division, 2.76/6 = 0.19

To the nearest tenth , 0.19 is same as 0.2, now multiplying 0.2 by 6, what we have is 1.2 ( of which even 0.19 * 6 is expected to be less than this). we can see that this value is quite far from our expected answer of 2.76 which makes the answer an unreasonable one

Thus, the division 2.76/6 = 0.19 is not a reasonable answer

Using properties of sets show that : a) A ∩ (A’ U B) = A ∩ B b) A ∩ (A U B )’ = Ф
asambeis [7]

Answer:

a) From A ∩ A' = ∅, we have;

A ∩ (A' ∪ B) = A ∩ B

b) From A ∩ (A' ∩ B') = (A ∩ A') ∩ B' and A ∩ A' = ∅, we have;

A ∩ (A ∪ B)' = ∅

Step-by-step explanation:

a) By distributive law of sets, we have;

A ∩ (B ∪ C) = (A ∩ B) ∪ (A ∩ C)

From the complementary law of sets, we have;

A ∩ A' = ∅

Therefore, for A ∩ (A' ∪ B) = A ∩ B, we have

A ∩ (A' ∪ B) = (A ∩ A') ∪ (A ∩ B) (distributive law of sets)

A ∩ A' = ∅ (complementary law of sets)

Therefore;

(A ∩ A') ∪ (A ∩ B) = ∅ ∪ (A ∩ B)  = (A ∩ B) (Addition to zero identity property)

∴  A ∩ (A' ∪ B) = A ∩ B

b) By De Morgan's law

(A ∪ B)' = A' ∩ B'

Therefore, A ∩ (A ∪ B)' = A ∩ (A' ∩ B')

By associative law of sets, we have;

A ∩ (A' ∩ B') = (A ∩ A') ∩ B'

A ∩ A' = ∅ (complementary law of sets)

Therefore, (A ∩ A') ∩ B' = ∅  ∩ B' = ∅

Which gives;

A ∩ (A ∪ B)' = ∅.

Olve for x. Check each step or answer that is correct. 34(x + 4) = 14(x + 8) (A) Distribute 34 on the left side of the equation.
Fantom [35]

Answer:

x = -1.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Th given equation is :

34(x + 4) = 14(x + 8)

Step (A) Distribute 34 on the left side of the equation such as :

34x + 34(4) = 14(x + 8)

34x + 136 = 14(x + 8)

Step (B) Distribute 14 on the right side of the equation such as :

34x + 136 = 14x + 14(8)

34x + 136 = 14x + 112

Step (C) Subtract 14x from each side of the equation.

34x + 136 - 14x = 14x + 112 -14x

20x + 136 = 112

Step (D) Subtract 136 from each side of the equation.

20x + 136 -136 = 112 -136

20x = -24

Step (E) Divide both side by 20

\dfrac{20x}{20}=\dfrac{-24}{20}\\\\x=-1.2

So, the value of x is (-1.2). Hence, steps (D) and (E) are incorrect.

A pack of 30 pencils cost $7.97 and a pack of 12 pencils cost $4.77. which is better? how do you know?
Black_prince [1.1K]

The better one is a pack 30 pencils that costs $7.97. How do I know I divide 7.97/30 and got 0.26567. I did the same thing to the other one and got 0.3975. The one that is smaller is the best one.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Please explain step by step!! Please please I'll give enough points!
ArbitrLikvidat [17]
1)
The distance between points A and B is;
d= \sqrt{(x2-x1)^{2} + (y2-y1)^{2} } \\
d= \sqrt{(1-5)^{2} +(12+8)^{2}}\\
d= \sqrt{(-4)^{2} + (20)^{2}}\\
d=\sqrt{16+400}\\
d=\sqrt{416}\\
d=4\sqrt{26},
and if you wanted to you could measure out the legs of that hypotenuse using the slope between A and B, but I'm going to show you the easier way;
Δx = 4
Δy = -20
So from the midpoint, add 4 to the x-value and subract 20 from the y-value.
{(5+4),(-8-20)}
(9,-28) is the endpoint.

2)
Do the same thing as I did above;
d= \sqrt{(x2-x1)^{2} + (y2-y1)^{2} } \\
d= \sqrt{(5-(-3))^{2} +(5-(-4))^{2}}\\
d=\sqrt{(5+8)^{2}+(5+4)^{2}}\\
d=\sqrt{(13)^{2}+(9)^{2}}\\
d=\sqrt{169+81}\\
d=\sqrt{250}\\
d=5\sqrt{10}
So 5\sqrt{10} is the distance.

Sorry for the delay, life delayed me a ton ,:D
