5 inches added onto Lisa would make 6ft tall 

4 more inches added on would equal our values

To find out the difference between Ted's and Lisa's height, lets subtract both values:
6 ft 4 in - 5 ft 7 in
= (6 ft - 5 ft) + (4 in - 7 in)
= 1 ft - 3 in
now, we know that 1 foot equals 12 inches, so if we substitute that in the last equation, in total we have:
= 1 ft - 3 in
= 12 in - 3 in
= 9 in
So the difference in heights is 9 in, and as Ted is taller, Ted is 9 in taller than Lisa.
