The rule for dividing fractions is "invert and multiply." What you invert is the denominator fraction.

Example: (1/3) / (4/5) = (1/3)×(5/4) . . . . . the denominator 4/5 has been inverted to 5/4 and is now a multiplier.

All the rest of the rules for fractions are unaltered--conversion from mixed numbers to improper fractions, addition and subtraction--they're all the same.

They are similar in basically everything because they're inverse operations.

Inverse operations are operations that do the smae thing, but the opposite way. If one multiplies, the other one divides. If one sums the other one subratcts.


→ Exponents multiply the same number by itself a given amount of times to obtain the answer.

→ Roots get a number and look for another one that multiplied by itself a given amount of times reult in the initial number.
