The answer would be D.

Since we know absolute value shows the distance between zero and a number,

and it doesn't matter if the number is positive or negative as long as they are inside these "l  l".  So if we add -9 or -7 to 8, the result would be 1 and -1. And when we take it out of these "l    l", the number should always be positive.

*Sorry about these "l    l", i don't what they call it in English.

x + 8 = 1

x = -7


-(x+8) = 1

-x - 8 = 1

-x = 9

x = -9

we need to multiply 0.75 (75%) by something to get 120. which is 160 (the total number of all students).
