A round pipe of varying diameter carries petroleum from a wellhead to a refinery. At the wellhead, the pipe's diameter is 58.9 c

m ( 0.589 m) and the flow speed of the petroleum is 12.1 m/s. At the refinery, the petroleum flows at 6.29 m/s. What is the volume flow rate of the petroleum along the pipe and what is the pipe's diameter at the refinery?

Answer:

Explanation:

The volume rate of flow = a x v where a is cross sectional area of pipe and v is velocity of flow

putting the values

π x .2945² x 12.1

= 3.3  m³ /s

To know the pipe's diameter at the refinery we shall apply the following formula

a₁ v₁ = a₂ v₂

a₁ v₁ and  a₂ v₂ are volume rate of flow of liquid which will be constant .

3.3 = a₂ x 6.29

a₂ = .5246 m³

π x r² = .5246

r = .4087 m

= 40.87 cm

diameter

= 81.74 cm

The same net force is applied to two bodies. The first body acquires half of the acceleration of the second body. What is the re
Yanka [14]

The mass of the first body is double the mass of the second body.

This all revolves around Newtons 2nd law of motion that states F=m*a.

If we understand that body one has the same force applied but half of the acceleration than body two, we can easily understand that it has to do something with the objects mass. This is because mass and acceleration in newtons 2nd law are inversely proportional. This means if and objects force stays the same, but it’s mass doubles, then the acceleration must be half its original value. And if the acceleration doubles and the force stays constant than the mass must have halved from its original value. It sounds quite complicated but it’s very simple. Hopefully this helps!!!

use the general formulas for gravitational force and centripetal force to derive the relationship between speed and orbital radi
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

Explanation:

The universal law of gravitation is defined as:

F = G\frac{Mm}{r^{2}}  (1)

Where G is the gravitational constant, M and m are the masses of the two objects and r is the distance between them.

The centripetal force can be found by means of Newton's second law:

F = ma  (2)

Since it is a circular motion, the acceleration can be defined as:

a = \frac{v^{2}}{r}  (3)

Where v is the velocity and r is the orbital radius.

Replacing equation (3) in equation (2) it is gotten:

F = m\frac{v^{2}}{r}  (4)

Hence,

m\frac{v^{2}}{r} = G\frac{Mm}{r^{2}}

Then, v can be isolated:

mv^{2} = G\frac{Mmr}{r^{2}}

mv^{2} = G\frac{Mm}{r}

v^{2} = G\frac{Mm}{mr}

v^{2} = \frac{GM}{r}

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

So the relationship between speed and orbital radius is given by the expression v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}
